Hey everyone! This is a pattern for my famous scoodies! These sell like hotcakes on etsy and they are soooo simple to make. I had this pattern for sale on my etsy shop but I’ve decided to post it on my blog for free! These scoodies are for sale here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/DoodleBumpkin?section_id=7531357
Here is the pattern:
Chain: Yarn over, draw yarn through loop.
Single Crochet: Insert hook into stitch, giving you 2 loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw your yarn through both loops.
Double Crochet: Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up another loop. You should now have three loops on your hook. Yarn over; draw your hook through the first two loops. Yarn over and draw your hook through the last two loops.
CH: Chain
DC: Double Crochet
Hook Size: N
Amount of Yarn Needed: About 300 yards, it may vary depending on what type of yarn you use. I typically use Medium Weight Red Heart Super Saver, or Lion Brand Homespun. The Homespun gives it a chunkier, softer, warmer style while the Red Heart is a little sleeker.
Row one: Start with a CH of 130 stitches. (This will make up how long your scoodie is. You can make it longer or shorter depending on how you would like your scoodie to look.)
Row two: When you get to the 130th stitch chain 3 more and then do 1 DC into the 3rd stitch from the end, DC in each stitch across. When you get to the end chain 3 and turn your work. To turn your work, simply flip your piece to the opposite side. You should continuously be working from right to left.
Rows 3-18: repeat row 2. (To get the pink grey and black striped look, change colors every 3 rows.)
When you get to the 18th row finish off by chaining one, then cut your yarn with your hook still holding a loop. Be sure to use sharp scissors as dull blades may mar your yarn. Then yarn over and draw your yarn all the way through your final hook. When you pull gently on the tail end of the yarn it should create a subtle knot. Use a yarn needle to work the tail into the stitching.
Now you have a very wide scarf. To turn this into a scoodie you will have to fold the piece perfectly in half. Make sure all your stitches line up. It helps to lay your scarf flat on the floor or on a large table for folding. Now it is time to sew up the hood. To do this you will use your hook. Start at the tip of the hood and use the same color yarn as you did for that part of your scoodie. Take the first few inches of your yarn and fold it in half to make a loop, use your hook to pull the loop through the first stitches at the tip of the folded hood. You want to make sure your hook goes through both sides of your scarf with every stitch. Now you will single crochet across for about 12 inches to make the hood. Finish off your work as you did before and TADA you have a beautiful scoodie to wear, sell, or gift!

So the other day I got my new Mineral Maven makeup! I ADORE this makeup. It’s handmade from environmentally friendly minerals. The makeup is a great way to “go green” without spending a fortune. Her eye shadows are about $5.00 for a 5 gram jar. If you’re like me you’re saying “Wait how much makeup do I get in a 5 gram jar?!?” Here’s a photo:
The 5 gram jars are about an inch wide by about 1/2 inch tall. I just LOVE the bags this makeup came in, so cute! The makeup itself comes is FANTASTIC colors! I got a beautiful peacock blue called “Candy Popcorn,” a wonderful fuscia called “Jackie O,” a super pretty light green called “Golden Apple,” a great everyday beige/gold color called “Draga,” and an amazing smoky lilac called “Enchanted.” I cannot even explain how much I love my new makeup. To get some for yourself visit www.mineralmaven.etsy.com
Now that I’ve told you about the eye shadow we can talk about how to make your own eye shadow primer. The Mineral Maven eye shadow is a powdery dust so in order to get the full color you will have to use a primer. Primers are super important when it comes to eye shadow.
Reasons to use an Eye Shadow Primer:
1. It will make your color more rich.
2. It will make your color last longer.
3. It is a great way to moisturize the sensitive skin around your eye.
Eye shadow primers can be very expensive at drug stores, ranging any where from $9.00-$30.00. I’m going to show you how to make your own at home for under $5.00.
Supplies:
1. Body Butter (You are going to want to use an un-scented body butter so you don’t irritate your eye. Also make sure you have a butter not just a lotion, this is to keep the primer thick.)
2. Liquid Foundation (I just used L.A. Colors, it’s the Dollar Store brand, super cheap yet effective.)
3. Liquid Concealer (Preferably a squeezable tube as opposed to the tube with the wand. However, the one with the wand is still usable. Once again I used L.A. Colors brand.)
4. A Toothpick, Q Tip, or something similar to stir with.
5. A small container to store the primer in. (I used an old eye shadow container but you could also use one of those takeout containers that sauces come in.)
6. A makeup sponge or something similar to apply the finished product with.
Directions:
Step One: Mix equal parts of the body butter, foundation, and concealer together in the small container and stir with the toothpick until well blended. If you got the concealer with the wand it might take a while add it to the mix. It’s okay if you don’t get it equal. That’s how mine was an it turned out just fine.
Step Two: Apply using your makeup sponge, and enjoy your new look!
*I would love to see pics or hear about how your primer turned out! Don’t forget to comment! :p
Hey everyone! I just had to share this awesome pattern I found for a baby hat. The hat is called a Munchkin Hat. It’s like a cute little elf hat. It would make a great photo prop for a new baby! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pattern. It’s super easy to follow and has very detailed instructions. What I like the most is that the pattern is worked in colored stripes, but you never have to cut your yarn! You have to check this out. Here is the link: http://neannersshop.blogspot.com/2011/03/crochet-munchkin-hat-pattern.html
If you have any probs you can ask me or just comment of Neanner’s blog. She is the pattern writer after all. I have to give her major props for this pattern. The hat is available for sale now on my etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/listing/79832914/munchkin-hat-newborn-6-months-baby-boy
This hat even inspired me to make some matching baby booties. The pattern for them is my own and I will be posting it very soon. The booties are also available in my shop: http://www.etsy.com/listing/79831620/baby-boy-booties-newborn-12-months-blue
This is my first go at making baby stuff and I love it! The baby items are so small and cute, and I can make them in one sitting. I love the Munchkin hat set so much that I made up an extra one and sent it to my friend who is about to have a baby boy.
I hope everyone enjoys this post! Happy crocheting!
